The Simpsons: 5 Reasons Why Sideshow Bob Needs To Die

2. His Episodes Have Become Repetitive

Sideshow Bob's episodes are becoming increasingly more repetitive. They nearly always revolve around one central theme - trying to kill Bart, or a Simpson family member - and that concept has been done to death. Occasionally, the show's writers will attempt to freshen things up a bit, by giving Bob his own family ('The Italian Bob', above) and that episode was a nice break from proceedings as for once, Bob didn't try to murder Bart, though that was an unhappy rarity for virtually every other time we see him, he's chasing after the little Simpson boy with a huge knife. We have reached a point now where "Bob plots to kill Bart, he comes close to killing Bart, is foiled at the last minute" episodes evoke yawns, with the whole formula feeling exhausted. We all know the outcome - Bart and Lisa save the world from Bob, Bart and Lisa save Krusty from Bob, Bart and Lisa save Aunt Selma from Bob, and so on, and so forth. Sideshow Bob episodes now merely feel as tired and predictable as the Itchy & Scratchy cartoon-within-a-cartoon, and it's time for this recycled plotline to end.
