The Simpsons: Homer's 10 Most Astounding Acts Of Stupidity

9. 'I Would Like A Moment Alone With The Sandwich' €“ Selma's Choice

The Simpsons Sandwich Homer has an appetite that is rarely matched (Old Red did beat him in a steak eating contest but we all know what happened to him) so when he brought home a giant 10-foot sandwich left over from the company picnic in 'Selma's Choice', there was only one way that was going to end. Despite Marge warning Homer the sandwich was over a week old and that the mayonnaise was starting to turn, Homer persisted arguing that in 2 feet he'd be able to fit it in the fridge. So it was no surprise that on the morning Homer promised to take Bart and Lisa to Duff Gardens they find him in bed with food poisoning. His stupidity is then encapsulated when he's asks Marge to leave the room for some alone time to say goodbye to his beloved sandwich before admitting it was just so he could eat it. His determination to conquer the giant sub is admirable though, if not massively idiotic. Which is why this delicious entry made the list.
