9. Sex Addiction
Episode: Sexual Healing As soon as Tiger Woods: PGA Tour descended into a parody of Mortal Kombat between him and his then wife Elin Nordegren, it was clear that this would be a good episode. The through line to this joke took us from the green to the later apology simulator, the South Park team really dug into the Tiger Woods saga and his claims of sexual addiction. With the door opened by this specific case the team were free to make fun of every recent celebrity sex scandal with Bill Clinton, David Letterman, Ben Roethlisberger, David Duchovny and of course Charlie Sheen all making an appearance. The treatment these characters receive is clearly ridiculous and plays on how we as non-celebs feel better about their behaviour after some kind of public penance, no matter how ineffective it may be. We are given some very apt gags with men flat out denying that they would use their money and position if they were a celebrity to impress women, and denouncing those that do as sex addicts. The way it progresses from the school all the way up to the government before being blamed on an Alien Space Wizard really put the context of all the sex scandal hysteria in to focus. They were telling us: point the finger all you want, a lot of you would be doing it if you could.
