South Park: 10 Times Butters Was TOO Innocent
4. The Ghost Whisperer
Eric Cartman's place in his group of friends is a strange one. They don't seem to like him, and he definitely doesn't like them.
Cartman pushes the other three too far one day when he eats all of the skin from a bucket of KFC chicken. This is the last straw for Stan, Kyle, and Kenny, who decide to ignore Cartman completely.
The rest of their class decide to do the same as pretty much everyone in school has had enough of Cartman's selfish, arrogant attitude. This leads Cartman to the only logical explanation for the situation that he finds himself in, being that he has in fact died and become a ghost, trapped on Earth with unfinished business. Naturally.
The only one who doesn't get the memo about ignoring Cartman? Butters, of course. When Butters greets Cartman, it prompts Cartman in to thinking Butters is a ghost whisperer tasked with helping him carry out his unfinished business so that he can go to Heaven. Butters, absolutely terrified of being haunted, reluctantly agrees to help the spirit of Cartman.
The pair go about making amends for all of Cartman's previous misdeeds in a hilarious montage filled with callbacks to previous episodes where Cartman has terrorised the citizens of South Park.
It culminates with the pair once again finding themselves in a tricky situation and managing to foil yet another hostage situation. Two hostage situations in the same year seems like it would inflict a lot of trauma on a 10 year old, but Butters being his usual happy-go-lucky self, never lets it get him down for long.
