South Park: Kenny’s 12 Greatest Deaths

Taking swings at celebrities major and minor isn’t just in South Park’s wheelhouse - it pretty much is its wheelhouse, to the point that every episode opens with a title card indemnifying them against any legal action. The season Two episode “Chef Aid” remains an outlier for the show, however, as for once the celebrities themselves actually turned up to perform.

In a spoof of charitable concerts like Band Aid, a gaggle of musicians come to the town to perform a benefit concert for Chef, who is bankrupt after a failed lawsuit.

Ozzy Osbourne, one of the performers, ends up biting Kenny’s head off, mocking the myth of the Black Sabbath frontman dentally decapitating a bat during a performance. South Park was a hot property from the off, and Stone and Parker seemed to use their sway to meet musicians they admired (an earlier episode features The Cure), but this is the first time they gave the episode’s famous Kenny death over to a celebrity.

In time, the creators would stop inviting real stars to appear on the show, relying instead on their own crude impressions. Most celebs would stay well away these days, but the early episodes boast some great audacious moments like this.
