Odo DS9
Paramount

Early in the first season of the show, our shapeshifter has never heard nor seen of any other shape-changing lifeform. As he is busting up an illicit deal at (where else) Quark's bar, he is interrogating one of the people involved, Croden. Croden reveals that he knows where there are more Changelings and Odo becomes interested. The criminal even possess a necklace that has shape-shifting matter, which Dr. Bashir suggests could be a distant relative.

Fortunately for the constable, Commander Sisko orders him to extradite Croden back to his home planet so the opportunity to look into this presents itself. As the two of them travel, it's revealed that Croden is a political prisoner and will likely face execution when he returns home, but they don't have time to worry about that as they come under attack from a vengeful wronged party, who chase them into the Chamra Vortex, an asteroid field that Croden claims is where the Changelings were.

Alas, Croden was lying and he has never heard of any other Changelings. The necklace is a key to where he has locked away his daughter in stasis and now seeks to rescue her. Odo, although angry, helps the father and his daughter to escape. While he was denied learning about his heritage, something he has been secretly desperate to do, he retains his sense of justice.

Still bitter that Star Trek Enterprise got canned and almost old enough to angrily tell the kids to 'Get Off My Lawn!'
