Star Trek: 10 MORE Characters Permanently Displaced In Time
7. The Diviner
The Diviner, a representative, scientist, and warrior of the Vau N'Akat, travels back in time some fifty years, hoping to avoid the destruction of his homeworld. Solem, once a thriving society, falls into a deadly civil war after first contact with Starfleet, so hitting the undo button seems the best course of action.
He was a member of The Order, a fanatical section of Vau N'Akat society who believed Starfleet to be responsible for all of their ills. As he said -
Starfleet lit the fire and left us to burn.
His single-minded obsession with stopping this future from existing ensure that he knew he must, by definition, be going on a one-way trip. He was accompanied by his own Drednok, and created a progeny, whom he named Gwyndala, to counter his solitude.
Though he does repent in the final days of his life, it must also be remembered that The Diviner employed the use of child labour, and specifically child slaves, in his attempt to find the USS Protostar. His blind obsession led to the misery of countless alien beings on Tars Lamora, so we can only hope that if and when season two of Star Trek: Prodigy hits the air, the audience may be treated to a Diviner from a different time - perhaps one with a kinder heart.
