Star Trek: 10 Strangest Space Anomalies You May Have Forgotten

7. The Shattered Temporal Anomaly

While investigating an unnamed temporal anomaly in the Voyager episode Shattered, the ship was split into thirty-seven different time periods (most of them episodes from earlier in the series).

At first Chakotay was the only one able to move between these different time periods because he was directly zapped by the anomaly while trying to save the ship. He first noticed something was wrong when he went to sickbay and learned that different parts of his body were ageing at different rates.

Exploring the ship, it was clear that time was not in sync. In engineering, it was the time that Seska and the Kazon took over the ship in the episode Basics. On the bridge, it was right before the pilot, The Caretaker. In Cargo Bay 2 it was during Voyager's alliance with the Borg in the episode Scorpion. Some parts of the ship even existed in alternate futures.

Eventually, with the help of season one Captain Janeway, Chakotay was able to resynchronise time. The episode Shattered was a really cool way for the writers to revisit old episodes without it feeling forced. It was particularly cool to see Janeway's reaction to her future, and the way Chakotay had to regain her trust to convince her it was a future worth saving.
