Star Trek: 10 Things We Are Most Excited To See In Discovery S3

7. The Trill

Star Trek Discovery Season 3 Trailer
CBS

We know that Ian Alexander, Star Trek's first openly transgender actor, will be playing Gray - a Trill who is dreaming of becoming joined with a symbiont. Through Gray's eyes, we could see much of the history of what has come in the intervening years. If Gray manages to pick up a symbiont for, oh let's say, a familiar Trill name - then there is much that the writers can do with this (while offering the audience a fun easter egg along the way).

However.

In the same breath, it would be very easy for Gray to become the ship's main computer, in that they may end up becoming an information dump. This should be handled as lightly as possible - arguably, something Discovery has not yet been known for - but this is still a fantastic opportunity to help the crew of the Discovery get to know the time in which they now exist.
