Star Trek: 10 Things You Didn’t Know About Quark

6. He appeared on a real-life talk show

Now, if you haven't seen this, please do yourself a favour and head on over to YouTube.

In June 1993, just as Star Trek: Deep Space Nine was coming to the end of its first season, Armin Shimerman appeared in his full Quark make-up and costume on Live with Regis & Kathie Lee, a daytime talk show.

He spends the first half of the ten-minute interview in character, talking about the traits of the Ferengi species, his businesses aboard Deep Space Nine, and other details from the show. At one point he even gets his ears caressed by Regis Philbin! Not sure why they didn't censor that, to be honest, children could have been watching.

Quark then leaves the stage to get his make-up removed and Shimerman later returns as himself. He then proceeds to talk about the character, the show in general, as well as some behind-the-scenes bits. He comes across as incredibly humble, constantly giving credit to the crew of the show and downplaying his own abilities.
