4. Acamarians - The Vengeance Factor

The Acamarians were, by and large, a divided species, though they hailed from the planet Acamar III. By the time the Enterprise-D encountered the results of an Acamarian raid on a Federation outpost, they had been split into the Acamarian majority and 'Gatherer' minority.

These Gatherers were a nomadic tribe, having left the homeworld in 2266. They spent the next hundred years raiding outposts in their own, and neighbouring, systems. The attack on the Federation outpost led Captain Picard to join Sovereign Marouk of Acamar, and Chorgan of the Gatherers, in an attempt to mediate peace.

Commander Riker was inadvertently drawn into an assassination attempt on Chorgan. Acamarian society had once been split into different clans. Chorgan was a member of the Clan Lornak, while Marouk's aid, Yuta, was the last survivor of the Clan Tralesta - and was obsessed with destroying every Lornak she found. Riker was forced to kill her to save Chorgan's life. 

The Gatherers would then return home, though a contingent of Acamarians could still be found on a certain Starbase 80...
