Adjusting to station life was never going to be easy, as Worf discovered in his early days on DS9. His transfer came with a promotion - bumping him from Security Chief to Strategic Operations Officer - thus seeing him swap out the gold uniform for the scarlet. However, years of security don't simply vanish, and Worf learned a hard lesson.

In Hippocratic Oath, Worf became increasingly frustrated by Odo's security methods aboard the station. Worf himself recognised a smuggler while in Quark's bar, and then immediately informed the constable. However, Odo's apparent lack of action riled the man up, causing him to err.

During a meeting in the bar, Worf walked in, phaser in hand, ready to arrest the man. It was then that Odo revealed the bigger picture - he had planned to let the smuggler think he'd escaped, then infiltrate the entire smuggling operation. Thanks to Worf's intervention, Odo could only come away from his plan with a single, low-level operative.
