Star Trek: 20 Essential Gifts For Trekkies

5. The Art Of Juan Ortiz

Art Of Juan Ortiz Juan Ortiz has recently been releasing movie posters each episode of The Original Series. Really good 1960s style movie posters. They've been on a placed on a variety of things, such as posters, shot glasses etc, but in this case it is the collection of each poster into a book. I love some of the designs on these, such as the stream of Tribbles out the back of the Enterprise in The Trouble with Tribbles and some of them are so 1960s that it seems a shame that they were never actually used. Considering that these things are so awesome that they've been shown in art galleries, you could rather think that it is an art gallery in a book. Plus, this type of book is Christmas at its finest €“ because speaking purely for myself €“ I'd never buy this book. But I'd be thrilled to get it as a gift. BookDepository.co.uk has it for a penny under Amazon at £16.48. Although worth noting that Forbidden Planet have signed copies for £35.

4. Expendable T-Shirt

Expendable Tshirt A Star Trek reference that all fans would get instantly. A reference to Star Trek: The Original Series' ability to kill en-mass anyone in a red shirt, to the extent that I'm sure Chekov look scared of donning the red shirt during Star Trek Into Darkness. In fact, perhaps with this gift you might want to pair it with the phaser set earlier in the list. After all, then someone can shoot the person wearing the red shirt while they wear it. In fact, there was an article on the official Star Trek website not too long ago that showed that although numerically the number of red shirts killed were higher, apparently the percentage of them killed was lower than the gold shirts on board the Enterprise. I tend not to think about it that much. Anyway, the shirt is £12.99 from Play.com. Plus if you want to send out a more subtle message about Star Trek, then this will do it for you. I'd wear this out and about and not feel like I'm wearing anything overly nerdy - but I already wear shirts with the TARDIS on it and Big Bang Theory quotes, so who am I to judge! :)

3. Hallmark Ornaments

Uss Kelvin Hallmark On every Christmas list there should be a completely unobtainable item. So Star Trek Christmas ornaments are a bit of the same thing in the UK €“ particularly the Hallmark ones. This year they're doing three €“ one of Scotty, one of the USS Kevin and Kirk fighting the Gorn from Arena. Over the year's they've done a load of these, but each are released only for a year. So we've already missed out on a whole bunch and until Hallmark star releasing the keepsake ornaments in the UK, we'll carry on missing them. The annoying thing was that I was out in the States back in October and didn't realise that these weren't available in the UK - but if they had an Enterprise out this year of some description then I would have got it regardless... I'm just not sure if I want the one Star Trek ornament I have on the tree to be the Kelvin.
