Star Trek: 6 Romulans Who Would Have Hated Unification (And 6 Who Wouldn't)

6. Nero

Spock Picard
Paramount

Here's one that could swing either way dependent on precisely what time of his life you chose to pop the question.

First as a miner, Nero had a family on Romulus and believed that Spock, a Vulcan, would have saved his people from the terrors of the Hobus Supernova.

Tragically, the supernova occurred earlier than expected, killing Nero's family while he was away aboard the Narada and throwing the quadrant into turmoil. It sent him over the edge and fans would not be expecting someone with this much hate and anger to be looking to reconcile with the Vulcans.

After all, one of them was responsible (he sees) for the death of his family. Nero's goal is pure and simple; revenge for the deaths that he believes Spock allowed. He would love for Romulus to be back in one piece but knows that this is an impossible task and this is the only way he can gain some form of justice.

Travelling back in time doesn't do anything to alleviate his anger as the Narada is captured by the Klingons. Spending 25 years in Klingon prison only adds to his vendetta ultimately stranding Spock on Delta Vega.

A Star Trek fan from birth, I love to dive into every aspect of the franchise in front and behind the screen. There's something here that's kept me interested for the best part of four decades! Now I'm getting back into writing and using Star Trek as my first line of literary attack. If I'm not here on WhatCulture then you're more than welcome to come and take a look at my blog, Some Kind of Star Trek at http://SKoST.co.uk or maybe follow me on Twitter as @TheWarpCore. Sometimes I force myself not to talk about Star Trek.
