Star Trek: Deep Space Nine - Ranking Every Major Character Worst To Best

1. Garak

Do not, under any circumstances, trust that smile. This man is so much more than he looks while, at the same time, he is just plain, simple Garak, the tailor.

Andrew Robinson's portrayal of Garak delivered the greatest character of the entire show. He is arguably one of the greatest characters in the franchise, weaving between villain on the side of the angels, to a pragmatist with no sense of enough being enough.

He is funny. He is charming. He is deadly. He is unique. There is very little about Garak that he would let you know for certain. As a former member of the Obsidian Order, he was talented in both espionage and interrogation, proving to his masters time and time again that there was no better man for some of the messier elements of the job.

His exile on the station was especially cruel, as he was unable to come to terms with having to live among the greatest enemies of his people. In time though, after a few false starts and dreams of returning home, he resolved to live on the station in peace, taking lunch with Bashir and Odo.

He was still a well-connected man, reaching out to his colleagues on Cardassia when the situation called for it. He shared drinks with Quark as they discussed the almighty, insidious Federation and he was finally able to celebrate his return home, once all of Cardassia had burned to ashes.

There is no greater ally to have on your side than Elim Garak. However, there is no greater enemy either.
