Star Trek: Discovery Season 3.13 Review: Ups And Downs From That Hope Is You - Part 2

4. The Crew Working Together

Star Trek Discovery Crew
CBS

The crew around Burnham again get a chance to shine this week, with the rather sudden inclusion of LT. Ida as well, mysteriously replacing Lt. Nilsson, though she returns for the final scene. One thing that this goes toward showing is that just because the bridge is locked down, it is not just all of the familiar faces that were in that room.

They come together perfectly and each bring their own skills - frankly, without Owosekun, they'd all have been sunk - and their interplay is a standout part of the episode. A criticism toward the show has been the over-reliance on Burnham to be everyone's saviour and the only one who can dig people out of any jam. Along the way, the secondary characters have received a rather short-shift.

Having said that, we have almost accidentally fallen in love with them. They are excellent stand-out characters and in this episode, they get the chance to shine. More of this is season 4 please!
