Star Trek: EVERY Chief Of Security Ranked From WORST To BEST

8. Murf - USS Protostar

To curb any quibbles that may be brewing, Murf is the only security officer on the USS Protostar...so that makes them the chief.

But that undersells Murf's natural talent for the job. If you ever found yourself up a creek without a paddle, Murf is the Mellanoid slime worm you'd want with you.

Brave, agile and endlessly stretchy, Murf has some serious moves. Their ability to take out a whole bunch of bad guys with their bare slime, and still be able to catch a falling friend, is superhero-level stuff. And that's not to mention that they're virtually indestructible; they even survived being beamed into space.

Of course, there is one significant problem. The universal translator's inability to decipher what they're saying means they're not likely to be the best negotiator. And that snappy tactical advice a captain needs in the middle of battle is harder to wrangle in a hurry. However, we do not doubt that once the translator catches up to Murf's way of speaking, there will be no holding them back.

Seeing Murf flourish when they finally begin training for the Academy is an absolute delight, especially when their flair for security is given the respect it deserves.
