7. Ro Laren

A troublemaking Bajoran whose loyalties don't always lie with Starfleet, the talented Ensign Ro Laren was assigned to the USS Enterprise (NCC-1701-D) over the objections of Captain Jean-Luc Picard. An incident early in her Starfleet career caused the death of eight fellow officers and she was stripped of rank in a Court Martial. Her assignment to the Enterprise was to use her past connections to the Bajoran Resistance to flush out a terrorist.

Picard eventually warmed to the ensign, learning of her past and how she endured living without a bed in the Bajoran camps, kept by the Cardassian occupation of her home world. Despite a troubled beginning to her service on the Enterprise, Ro Laren eventually became a vital member of the crew and served faithfully at the helm of the ship. This was until she crossed paths with the Maquis.

Being sent undercover to infiltrate the Maquis by Picard, Laren began to sympathise with their purpose and eventually defected to join them. Her fate beyond last being seen by Commander Riker is unknown... but the Maquis did not survive the onslaught of the Dominion.

Still bitter that Star Trek Enterprise got canned and almost old enough to angrily tell the kids to 'Get Off My Lawn!'
