At Coppelius Station, the synths have gathered for the activation of the beacon and it looks like a Rose Ceremony on The Bachelor.

Fittingly, Dr. Soong starts some drama, revealing to the crowd that Sutra murdered Saga to give the synths the emotional jolt that would drive them to turn on organics.

Then Soong uses a pen-shaped remote control to deactivate Sutra. This type of device is new, but something similar was used on Data in the TNG season three episode "The Ensigns of Command". It's also possible that Soong was just activating Sutra's off button, which both Data and Lore had (see "Datalore"), but it is kind of an odd feature to include when you're tying to make them as close to human as possible...

Meanwhile, Aunti Raffi, Rios, Elnor, and Narek attack and, almost immediately, their plan completely fails. Soji catches Rios' bomb ball and since she's got robo-strength, she throws it hard and it explodes at a safe distance.
