Star Trek Picard: Every Major Character Ranked

14. Narissa

Star Trek Picard
CBS

The season's second major villain suffers from many of the same issues as Narek, lacking a decent backstory or much in the way of defining character traits that would engage the audience. With respect to Peyton List, who does a fine job with the material provided, her entire arc appears to be 'Evil', with not much in the way of motivation.

She ranks slightly higher than Narek here due to the revelations in Broken Pieces. We discover in the opening montage that she is not, in fact, evil. She is working to rid the universe of a grave threat to all organic life. She is a good guy, albeit one with a dark moral centre. The writing of this aside, List delivers on this and it only goes to highlight that given stronger material, she could have delivered a much more memorable, scene stealing character.

As this revelation was left so late in the season, what we were delivered was a very Cersei-and-Jamie relationship between her and Narek, with nothing really to build upon. She is duplicitous, that much is sure. She killed Hugh and so she might be out of favour for a while with the fandom, but this is a show where murderers are forgiven easily (more on that coming). It is highly unlikely that she was killed by Seven and so it is assumed she will return for Season 2, however hopefully with a stronger arc to rally behind.
