Star Trek: Picard Trailer Confirms Data, Seven Of Nine, The Borg, & A Logan-Like Storyline
Captain Picard's getting a team together to protect the Chosen One? Sounds familiar.
Back when the Next Generation era of Star Trek ended with a couple of sadly disappointing movies, if you'd told Trek fans that one day we'd get the equivalent of an Old Man Logan TV show reuniting Sir Patrick Stewart with two major Star Trek characters from past shows, you'd probably have been enthusiastically cuddled to death.
And yet here we are.
With the first full trailer for Picard airing at Comic Con, we got a huge indication of what to expect from the show, including the return of Brent Spiner's Data (albeit initially as parts in a drawer) and Seven Of Nine from Star Trek: Voyager (Jeri Ryan). She's not the only Borg character included either as the trailer showed off a Borg cube seemingly under construction.
Here's the trailer...
The story seems to follow Picard as he seeks to protect a young girl with extraordinary powers who is the key to... something by coming out of retirement (where he's got itchy feet, inevitably) and assembling a new crew for a mysterious mission. If the girl - played by Isa Briones - isn't somehow linked to the Borg, then you can come back here and call me all sorts of names in the comments thread. Like you won't already...
Anyway, it's a hell of a trailer and the ending shot of Picard confidently saying "Engage!" is the stuff dreams are made of. What do you think? Share your reactions below in the comments thread.
