Star Trek Voyager Endgame
NBC

Endgame is divisive.

The pros: it is a thrilling series finale, it contains the very welcome return of Alice Krige, reprising her role as the Borg Queen from Star Trek First Contact. It is full of action and showcases some very cool future technology. It is also great to see the future uniforms from All Good Things making a return. Most of the crew are given plenty to do and Admiral Janeway is one of the best portrayals we've seen Kate Mulgrew deliver.

The cons: the show ends not with a thunder but with a whimper. The return of Voyager to the Alpha Quadrant deserved something more than that final shot. True, the last line of the series is full of emotion and it has a nice cyclical symbolism but the episode ends without much resolution.

The very late in the day addition of Tuvok's illness that only a member of his family can cure....why? There was enough menace in the episode already with the Borg Hub and with the threat of Seven's future death hanging over the Admiral like a weight.

However, everyone involved is giving it their all. Krige chews every bit of scenery as the Queen, Mulgrew gives her best performance and the rest of the crew all get perfect nods and one liners to tie their journeys up. It was, if not a satisfying ending, then certainly an emotional one for cast and crew alike.

One shot of Janeway in Star Trek Nemesis isn't enough - give us more!
