Star Wars: 10 Classic Characters Returning To TV

With the movies on hold, Disney Plus is where it's at.

With no new Star Wars movie scheduled until 2023 at the earliest, Lucasfilm is focusing almost entirely on expanding the "Galaxy Far, Far Away" on the small screen through Disney+.

That's no great surprise considering what a hit The Mandalorian was, and there are said to be up to nine different series currently in various stages of development for the streaming service.

In recent months, work in Hollywood has obviously slowed, but there have been a lot of reliable reports about what the future holds for the franchise.

While recent comments from Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy hinted at a shift to different timelines for the movies, the studio is clearly banking on familiar faces to help these TV shows make an impact.

That's bound to be appreciated by longtime Star Wars fans, and a lot of classic heroes and villains are now being lined up to make their return, this time on television.

While it's no secret that there are big plans in place for Obi-Wan Kenobi (Ewan McGregor) and Ahsoka Tano (Rosario Dawson), there are plenty of key names set to join them you almost certainly didn't know about.

10. Boba Fett

During the first act of Return of the Jedi, Boba Fett was sent directly into the Sarlaac Pit and, much to the horror of Star Wars fans, it seemed that his story would end there.

It was a pretty underwhelming conclusion for such a fan-favourite, and it was always depressing to think he would spend the next few thousand years being slowly devoured.

Expanded Universe stories resurrected him, of course, but those stopped being canon once Disney took charge of the Star Wars franchise. Now, the iconic bounty hunter is set to make his return in season two of The Mandalorian, with Temuera Morrison (who took on the role of Jango Fett in Attack of the Clones and later the Clone Troopers) set to play this older version of the character.

He was first teased during season one of the hit Disney+ series, but it doesn't sound like he will have his familiar armour. Instead, Cobb Vanth (played by Timothy Olyphant) will have somehow got his hands on that as the self-appointed sheriff of the Tatooine-based settlement Freetown.

However, there's a very good chance Fett will come gunning for him.

Josh Wilding hasn't written a bio just yet, but if they had... it would appear here.
