Stargate SG-1: Every Season Ranked Worst To Best

2. Season 9

After the final (and also not quite final) defeat of Anubis and the Replicators at the end of Season 8, it might seem that there wasn't much left to worry about in the Milky Way Galaxy anymore - all the action might be happening in Pegasus now - which is why our showrunners decided to reinvent the series, as if Season 9 was instead a new Season 1.

With the departure of Richard Dean Anderson and the temporary absence of Amanda Tapping, audiences got the buy-one-get-one-free deal on former Farscape cast members, Ben Browder and Claudia Black. Thus, with Colonel Cameron Mitchell and mischievous swindler Vala Mal Doran in place, the new team would encounter its newest enemy.

The Ori.

While tried and true villains like Ba'al and haphazard episodes like The Ties That Bind and Ripple Effect would amuse or distract for an episode or so, the massive threat presented by the Ori would dominate the season, culminating in the truly devastating conclusion in the battle at the Supergate. We'd learn just how powerful the Ori are and just how far they would be willing to go in order to subjugate the Milky Way galaxy.

At the same time, the Jaffa were struggling with becoming an independent nation of hundreds of worlds and warring factions, and the Trust had a new leader, a charming gentleman whose schemes were often haphazard or devious. Hard to tell which was which at times. All of this was set against the backdrop of the encroaching threat of the Priors and their message: kneel and be spared, resist and you will burn.

Hallowed are the Ori.

Still bitter that Star Trek Enterprise got canned and almost old enough to angrily tell the kids to 'Get Off My Lawn!'
