Stranger Things Season 3: 8 Biggest Questions After The Trailer

3. Are Hawkins Residents Infected By The Upside Down?

Okay, so we've already discussed the strange mark on Billy's arm, but what if the answer to what's happening to him is actually hidden in the rest of the trailer?

At one point, there is a shot of two sweaty women with dead-eye stares mindlessly making their way towards something. We later see Gary Busey's character, Bruce, with a similar expression on his face. However, with dark bags under his eyes, slimy skin and what appears to be blood underneath his shirt, Bruce looks a little more, um, decomposed.

This poses the question: could the residents of Hawkins be infected with some kind of supernatural virus? Though this would certainly explain the strange behaviour of these characters, it would also point towards a potentially disturbing twist.

If you rewatch the trailer, you'll see that Bruce is creepily making his way down what appears to be a corridor. Though the visual is unnerving enough on its own, it's all the more frightening when you realise that this appears to be the exact same setting in which the show's latest monster hatches its way out of something. So, with that in mind, we all have to wonder: could the infected residents of Hawkins actually become these horrid creatures?

Speaking of which...
