Supernatural: Every Season Ranked Worst To Best

12. Season Six

Supernatural finale
The CW

At its core, Supernatural is all about family, particularly the relationship between Sam and Dean. In season six, Sam has his soul taken by Lucifer, allowing the usually endearing and levelheaded brother to become emotionless and uncaring about those around him. It was an interesting twist, boasted by Jared Padalecki's great performance and the drama that comes with it.

The best part of the season, bar none, came with the episode "The French Mistake," a funny and meta episode in which Sam and Dean end up in an alternate reality where they are known as Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles, actors working on a show called Supernatural. It's cheesy, but it totally works.

Outside of these two great plot-points, Castiel tries to stop a civil war in Heaven and Dean briefly tries leading a normal life. There's a lot going on, and that sometimes leaves the season a bit of a mess in places, but all told season six is good TV - just not as good as the rest of the show.
