Supernatural: The Best Episode From Every Season

Looking back at the very best episode of all 15 seasons.

Supernatural Sam Jo
The CW

For a show that has been on the air for so long, it’s hard to pinpoint exactly when Supernatural was at its peak and when it was at its lowest (Season Seven being an exception, of course). Throughout its years on air, Supernatural had many highs and lows per season, however, no matter how bad things got, the series never failed to create interesting and heart-wrenching stories that kept fans coming back for more every week.

Supernatural went on for so long, that it was twice affected by worldwide events; those being the writers' strike of 2007 shortening the third season, and then the global pandemic delaying and significantly changing the series' last hurrah.

No matter what was happening in the real world, viewers were able to get lost in the fictional world of Supernatural as they followed Sam and Dean on their adventures to save the world from many impending dooms - with the pair saving countless lives along the way.

With a mixture of intense, weird, heartbreaking, and funny episodes, here is our list of the best stand-out episode from each of Supernatural's fifteen seasons.

15. Season 1 - Faith

Supernatural Sam Jo
The CW

Early Supernatural was the best era of the series by far. Season One focused mainly on monster-of-the-week stories, changing the monster every week with the main storyline easily forgotten until it’s brought up again.

Faith is the strongest episode in Season One of the show. As the title suggests, faith teaches us early about Dean’s faith – or lack thereof. After Dean suffers a life-threatening electric shock causing his heart to fail, Sam is determined to save his brother by taking him to a travelling faith healer where he is magically cured of his condition.

Naturally, the boys investigate how the healer can heal others of their conditions and they find out that the healer's wife is controlling a reaper who is killing off random people to take their lives and put it into the lives of the people the healer is saving.

Faith showed the series could be more than just a monster-of-the-week but loosely delved into the complex themes of religion and faith. The episode also gave us one of the best music moments in the series with Blue Oyster Cult’s “(Don’t Fear) The Reaper” playing as we watch a montage of the controlled reaper killing an innocent woman to save another.
