The Big Bang Theory: 10 Problems It Faces Moving Forward

1. The Decline Inevitability

Originally, The Big Bang Theory caught the attention of its audience by being fresh and away from the norm. But after a decade, it’s well and truly at home and part of the furniture. So the question is “Can it actually still be funny and interesting?” Obviously, the answer is “yes” but after a show has gone on for so long, it becomes more difficult.

A show will always decline after it goes on for a certain period of time. And sitcoms struggle more with this than drama because they’re not able to shake up things up like a drama can. Any big changes would likely alienate large sections of the audience, meaning that The Big Bang Theory’s success has basically put it into a corner.

The show certainly has room to manoeuvre and can still bring out the belly laughs (Remote Control Stephen Hawking, anyone?) but it’s just lost its spark after running for a decade. A fate that will befall pretty much any sitcom that makes it that far. But we’re hoping that Season 11 will prove us well and truly wrong that front.
