3. The Amy & Howard Dynamic
There are several little cliques in the Big Bang Theory. Leonard has his relationship with Penny; Howard his marriage to Bernadette (and at times, 'bromance' with Raj) while Amy has her unorthodox-to-say-the-least relationship with Sheldon. Other than Penny and Bernadette, however, Amy is very rarely seen socializing with anyone else, which is why it is intriguing when, in episode three, "The Scavenger Vortex", she spends time with Howard. This unlikely friendship comes about as the two are paired together in a scavenger hunt and, despite both conceding they have nothing in common, both realise this is wrong when it transpires they are each fans of Neil Diamond. What follows next are moments of tenderness and humour as they become closer, particularly when they blow off finishing the scavenger hunt and go to The Cheesecake Factory to do some Neil Diamond karaoke. This is a wonderful change in dynamic and we look forward to seeing more scenes of the two together, especially if Bernadette starts to get weirded out by it.
