12. The Blacksmith - Daredevil S2

The second season of Daredevil introduces a mysterious, drug-dealing villain known as The Blacksmith - the codename for Ray Schoonover, formerly Frank Castle's commanding officer in the Marine Corps (as played by Clancy Brown).

The character origin isn't the same, but The Blacksmith owes his name to another character in the comics. On the page, he was a Skrull, and the deception element of the character is clearly where the name came from.

As a shapeshifting alien, The Blacksmith obviously wasn't what he initially appeared to be, which perfectly captured the idea of Schoonover being duplicitous. And his "real" name is also a reference to Marvel Comics artist Brent Schoonover.
