The Flash Season 2: 11 Big Questions We're Asking After 'Fast Lane'

10. Couldn't They Have Done More With Tar Pit?

Tar Pit looked impressive, I'll give him that. In particular the final, boss-level iteration of him, looking not all that dissimilar from that villain in the Batman v Superman trailer (except on a MUCH smaller budget), it was another good example of what this show is capable of with its special effects. That was the good part. The bad part was, well, everything else. Guy who's a bit of a crook, got in trouble, the particle accelerator hit, he almost died, now he's got powers and is out for revenge, etc, etc. The finer points may change, such as the whole asphalt related powers thing, but the wider backstory has been done to death already, and the character brought nothing new to the show. His scenes were pretty uninteresting, and he was ultimately dealt with incredibly easily. Given that they actually made him look quite impressive, you feel they could've done more, but instead it felt like he was there just because the writers felt the needed to have a villain-of-the-week.
