The Flash Season 2: 28 Easter Eggs & References You Might've Missed

2. The Original Flash

The Flash Jay Garrick Henry Allen
The CW

Although the Jay Garrick we saw on screen for most of Season 2 wasn't what fans were expecting, the real deal did eventually turn up in the finale.

As many had theorised, especially after Earth-1 Henry's line about Garrick being his mother's maiden name, the Man in the Iron Mask was the real Jay Garrick, but also Henry's doppelgänger, albeit a much more grizzled version.

While this introduced the original comics Flash, it also re-introduced the original TV Flash, with John Wesley Shipp donning the costume after playing Barry Allen back in the 90s. He headed back to his home, Earth-3 - confirming that in this universe it's not an Earth ruled by supervillains - but hopefully it's not the last we've seen of Shipp. And thanks to Barry's actions, there's reason to believe it won't be.
