There's going to be a lot more speedsters this time around, and in fact there's going to be more than one Flash. As teased by the appearance of his helmet in the season 1 finale, Jay Garrick will be playing a part in season 2, with Teddy Sears (Masters of Sex) portraying him.

Garrick is notable for a couple of reasons. The first is that he is actually the original Flash, being the first man to use that name, and the second is that he lives on Earth-Two, an alternate reality version of the world in which Barry lives.

It looks as though that's where he'll be coming from, with the official description calling him "a mysterious figure who arrives in Central City to warn Barry Allen and his team at S.T.A.R. Labs of an impending danger that he alone cannot hope to stop." Presumably that danger will be Zoom, and the show is going to be playing around with Earth-Two this year, which throws up all kinds of crazy possibilities, and is exactly the sort of comic-book storytelling approach that is lacking in many superhero shows.
