The Flash Season 3: 10 Things You Might've Missed In 'Flashpoint'

New season, new timeline, new barrel-load of easily-missed easter eggs.

After a summer of rising anticipation from fans, the third season of The Flash finally began this week with the much talked about adaptation of seminal comic book arc Flashpoint. In the result, the brevity of the story surprised everyone, as the sprawling, all-encompassing event was whittled down to fill just a single 45 minute episode.

However, that didn’t mean that there wasn’t a lot for fans to sink their teeth into. This version might not have featured the likes of Thomas Wayne as Batman, an impoverished Superman or a war between Aquaman and Wonder Woman like in the comics, but there was a lot of fun to be had from seeing alternate versions of The Flash’s regular cast. And the episode also had much to do in setting up the rest of the season, with many reveals and hints laying the table for things later down the line.

Plus, this is The Flash - a show which sneaks in a barrel-full of easter eggs in a regular episode - so naturally this very special one had its fair share of nods to the comics, other TV shows, and past episodes.

10. Big Belly Burger

If you are a regular Arrowverse viewer, you will recognise the Big Belly Burger brand name, as the fictional fast food chain has outlets in both Arrow’s Star City and The Flash’s Central City. As such, both bands of heroes – though, in particular, the STAR Labs team – frequently get take-outs from the establishment.

In Flashpoint, Barry feeds the imprisoned Reverse-Flash with a Big Belly Burger meal. This may be a callback to season one’s finale Fast Enough, in which Eobard Thawne – in his Harrison Wells guise – admits that one of the few positives of being stuck in the 21st century is the company's burgers. Apparently, by his time, cows have become extinct. Presumably Barry forgot Eobard’s fondness for the grub when bringing him some here. Or maybe he just wanted to make amends for locking him up for three months.

Big Belly Burger also seems to be the one constant of the Multiverse, as this is the second time we have seen the eatery in a different timeline/universe (it likewise existed on Earth-2).
