The Flash Season 5: 3 Ups & 2 Downs From 'News Flash'

1. Two Detectives Are Better Than One

The Flash Ralph Wells
The CW

When the morally questionable Sherloque Wells showed up last week, he proved to be rather divisive character. Not only did he seek a lot of money for his services (unlike previous versions of the character), he was ultimately ineffective as he was wrong about Cicada's true identity. Moreover, he was incredibly rude towards Team Flash's resident private investigator, Ralph Dibny, clearly threatened by the presence of another sleuth. Though they had rather humorous exchanges, it ended up making Ralph feel left out.

The bickering between the pair continued into this week's episode as Ralph suggested that they attempt to determine Cicada's true identity by figuring out why he wore that specific mask. Sherloque originally laughed at the suggestion, but after the initial hunt was unsuccessful, he had an idea of his own (thanks to said suggestion). Eventually, he worked out that Cicada's lungs are injured and credited Ralph for helping him come to such a discovery.

'News Flash' didn't just give Sherloque a chance to shine (and he really shined), it reminded us just how effective Ralph can be too. After two weeks of completely separate detective work, Ralph is earning his place on Team Flash and showing us all that he's so much more than just the comedic Elongated Man.
