The Flash Season 5: 6 Major Questions After The Midseason Premiere

2. What Is Eobard Attempting To Achieve With Nora?

The Flash Eobard Season 5
The CW

Since The Flash's 100th episode ended with the reveal that Nora was seemingly working with Eobard Thawne, it made sense that the midseason premiere picked up from there. However, the episode didn't really provide us with any answers in regards to this pair's unusual dynamic.

What we do know is that the Reverse-Flash appears somewhat remorseful for the horrible actions he has committed throughout his life and, according to Thawne himself, wishes to leave behind a better legacy. From that, it sounds like he could be training Nora to be the perfect superhero, much like he trained her father in Season 1 - a mission that would indeed allow him to improve his own legacy.

Being a tenured speedster from the future, Thawne has a vast knowledge when it comes to his abilities and, in many ways, it makes him the perfect teacher. Thus, if Nora really does want to become the best superhero possible, it would make sense that she was willing to learn from Eobard and perhaps even explain why the villain is once again sporting the face he wore when he taught Barry.

However, are these really Thawne's true motivations? He didn't become one of, if not the, greatest Arrowverse villains by being trust-worthy and reliable, so it's quite possible (maybe even likely) that he has a hidden agenda. If this is the case, just how does Nora factor into his plans?
