Contains spoilers from The Flash Season 5, Episode 21.

This season of The Flash has primarily focused on Eobard Thawne's intriguing relationship with the daughter of Barry Allen, Nora West-Allen.

Ever since Nora showed up in the present, she has caused a chain reaction of events that have led to the arrival of a new Cicada. Further ripples would then be felt when another, more powerful, Cicada surfaced (also from the future) and killed the original.

All of this was due to a plan that the Reverse-Flash had engineered in an attempt to help the "little runner" spend some quality time with the father that she never knew and, for the most part, it truly seemed like his intentions were noble - hence his shock when he learned that Cicada 2.0. had disrupted things.

However, this week's episode, 'The Girl With The Red Lightning', saw Ralph Dibny launch his own investigation into Thawne's actions this past year and, despite Team Flash's concerns over Cicada's intentions, nothing was going to stop the former P.I. from completing his mission. The results of that investigation, and the episode's ambiguous ending scene, has left The Flash in a state of uncertainty - one that could end up rocking it to its very core.
