The Flash Season 6 Review: 5 Ups & 3 Downs From 'A Flash Of The Lightning'
1. A Lack Of Purpose For Kamilla
Kamilla Hwang's role in last week's season premiere was enough to earn her an 'up'. From her complete knowledge on all things Team Flash to her appearances at the West family barbecue, it seemed like the show was ready to treat her as more than just Cisco's girlfriend.
Unfortunately, she fell victim to one of the worst possible fates of knowing all things Team Flash, as she became the dreaded background character.
Kamilla was everywhere of importance - the art gallery when Killer Frost showed up, Central City Citizen when the team began their investigation into Allegra's case - and had nothing to show for it.
She stormed off on Cisco because Killer Frost insulted her work, seemingly setting up an eventual apology thread for the latter, but that didn't even take place on-screen. And as for the investigation, after offering some great insight into the case at the beginning, that investigation would then take place without her.
It's disheartening to see a character receive a lot of screen-time and yet never get the spotlight. It looked like that was beginning to change at the start of the season, but her role in this episode was quite the setback. Let's hope that setback isn't a permanent one.
Now, for the positives...
