The Flash Season 6 Review: 5 Ups & 3 Downs From 'A Flash Of The Lightning'

Ups...

5. From The Top

The Flash Barry Allen Iris West
The CW

For the second time in two weeks, The Flash has opened immediately after the previous offering's cliffhanger. Just as Barry and Iris attempted to mourn their daughter in the season premiere, this week's installment saw the pair once again quietly emotional in the wake of The Monitor's troubling prophecy of The Flash's death.

This didn't just serve as a great emotional opening for the episode, not-to-mention effectively set up its main narrative, it was a compelling moment of quiet that just allowed us to spend some time with the two main characters and watch them as they dealt with another heavy moment.

It's the quiet moments like this that highlight the strength of their characters and, in a show that's all about speeding things up, it was nice to slow things down for a change.
