It's hardly surprising that an event as groundbreaking as the Crisis brought with it the return of Earth-90's Flash. Portrayed by John Wesley Shipp, this version of the Scarlet Speedster - the very same one that appeared in the 1990s Flash TV series - was a significant part of Elseworlds last season when The Monitor tested his universe. And it turns out that this was a precursor to his role in Crisis, as he inadvertently ended up powering the Anti-Monitor's wave of antimatter.

Having him choose to sacrifice himself instead of Earth-1's Barry Allen was a clever work around the whole "The Flash must die" thing, but it was one that was hard to watch - especially for fans of the long-running TV character. From his noble sacrifice to the use of Danny Elfman's triumphant '90s score and that heartbreaking flashback to his time with Amanda Pays' Tina McGee - who, according to him, he ended up marrying - everything about this was a love letter to such an iconic superhero.

John Wesley Shipp is, without a doubt, one of TV's most legendary heroes, and given that he's an Arrowverse veteran, fans would've been happy to see any of his characters show up in the crossover (be it Henry Allen or Jay Garrick), but given the magnitude of the Crisis, it was only fitting that he got to play his most iconic role one more time.
