The Handmaid's Tale Season 2: 8 Ups And 2 Downs From 'First Blood'

7. June Is No Longer Playing Offred In Front Of Nick

Speaking of what's been lacking in The Handmaid's Tale, there have been few interactions between Nick and June in the last couple of episodes. But that's all set to change now that June has returned from the hospital.

June's new-found confidence means that she's no longer playing the role of the dutiful handmaid. As a result, she actually spoke to Nick, and the pair shared quite a few romantic moments throughout the duration of the episode.

It's good to have the two characters back on the same page. This relationship is at the centre of the show's narrative right now because, regardless of what the Waterfords say, June is carrying Nick's baby. And this means that he's her best shot at getting out of Gilead.
