Its fair to say that over the past four hundred years or so that the Simpsons has been on the airwaves, the shows producers and talent have had a pretty unique relationship with their host network, FOX. The FOX Network was just a young upstart when the Simpsons debuted, and the colossal success of the animated show was practically single handedly responsible for turning the network in the pop culture juggernaut it is today. Just like in all areas of life, financial success in television can bring with it enormous freedoms, and inoculate those who are successful from being subject to the same restrictions and rules that other less successful entities have to face. The writers of the Simpsons have understood this from day one, and thus it has seemingly been an unofficial rule of the show to try and use their platform to humiliate all the parts of FOX that they dont like albeit in an affectionate and charming way. There have been countless digs at FOX while the Simpsons has been running. These range from jabs at the power of Rupert Murdoch, to the overall tastelessness of other FOX programming. More recently, the seemingly Goebbels inspired FOX News network has become a popular target as the news network devolves further and further into parody by the second.
