Season 2 - Episode 20 Sometimes the simple stories are the best. Homer and Marge going to a couples therapy retreat in "The War of the Simpsons", and Homer fixating more on fishing that saving his marriage, is a simple yet poignant tale. It's relatable. It's The Simpsons at its traditional best, telling a tale with values and a lesson to be learned. The episode sees Homer on a quest to catch the legendary General Sherman, a huge catfish that is more myth than legend. When Homer eventually gives up his chance at the greatest catch of his life, the episode pays off, but the earlier gag of him seeing Marge become a catfish in front of his eyes when he's tuning her out is probably the best moment. It's overlooked because the show was really catching its stride in the second season, with a ton of great episodes, but it's still a good one.
