Although Mr. Burns is introduced in the very first episode of The Simpsons, he is far from the legendary TV bad guy we know him as today.

There might be a reason why Mr. Burns doesn't seem like himself in this season; he is literally a totally different person.

Christopher Collins' voice was known to millions of kids in the 80s through his roles as Commander Cobra in G.I. Joe and Starscream in the original Transformers cartoons.

He was also the man behind the microphone for Mr. Burns and Moe Syzslak in the first season of The Simpsons.

So why didn't he stick around? Well, the long and short of it is... nobody liked him.

Hank Azaria, who took over as Moe, told GQ in 2018 that Matt Groening once told him "His [Collins'] voice was great, he was just kind of jerky to everyone." He also used another word in that interview, but kids could read this so we'll leave it out.

Sam Simon is also said to have found Collins difficult to work with. As a result, he left the show after just one season and was replaced by Harry Shearer who is still Mr. Burns to this very day.
