The Simpsons: 10 Utterly Heart-Breaking Moments You'll Never Forget

9. Maggie Loves Marge

Marge Maggie Home Sweet Homediddly

Another moment that hinges on little Maggie Simpson, and this time on her importance to Marge Simpson as opposed to Homer. In seventh season episode "Home Sweet Homediddly-Dum-Doodily," the Simpsons children are taken away when Homer and Marge go away to a spa and a series of unfortunate events lead to the children looking like they've been neglected.

They end up in the care of Ned Flanders, which naturally upsets Bart and Lisa as they are subjected to Ned's rigorously bland lifestyle, punctuated by religion and discipline.

Maggie on the other hand thrives on the added attention given to her, and when it comes to the kids returning to their parents, she is torn between her old and new lives, right up until Marge appears and Maggie is overcome with that special love that exists between mother and daughter. All sacharine sentimentality aside, it's a very touching moment.
