The Simpsons has been known to predict many things over the years, and in this episode there is some foreshadowing to what audiences would eventually feel about the family themselves: "At first they were cute and funny, but now they're just annoying"
Lisa's Nightmare is as crazy as any other segment on this list, from a wish-granting paw to an alien invasion. However, within this madness there was also room for some character development. We get to see the innermost desires of some of the family, whether it is world peace, being rich and famous, or just having a turkey sandwich.
Even Lisa's completely selfless wish backfired, and although Ned's wishes were very similar, everything worked out great for him. This is the life of The Simpsons, even in the Halloween specials.
