The Simpsons: 8 Episodes We Never Got To See

5. Homer The Narcoleptic

Written by David X. Cohen, "Homer the Narcoleptic" would have taken one of the show's most famous recurring gags and turned it into a concept for a full-length episode.

In it, Homer - often seen sleeping at work, at church, at home and everywhere in-between during the day - would have been diagnosed with narcolepsy, a very rare condition that causes people to fall asleep without warning or reason, usually in the middle of important tasks.

Needless to say, this premise would have led to some hysterical mishaps, especially when you consider all the public places Homer visits on an episode-to-episode basis, and that one of the best treatments for the disorder is exercise - something Homer has proven on more than one occasion is far from his favourite thing.

Though it could have been a slapstick masterclass, the episode was only tentatively pitched and then left on the cutting room floor.
