The Simpsons: 8 Episodes We Never Got To See

A planned episode meant to be a part of the show's third season, "Thirtysimpson" was written by David Stern and would have found Homer - forever and always the impressionable goofball - falling in with a group of local yuppies (young urban professionals) and attempting to adopt their lifestyle.

Meant as a crossover with the cult drama series Thirtysomething, former showrunner Mike Reiss has gone on record to say the episode would have found Homer disillusioned with his life and desperate to change his ways, only to realise his life is pretty great and his wife and kids are enough for him to be happy.

Though this sounds like classic Simpsons through-and-through, Reiss said "Thirtysimpson" went unproduced because the story didn't quite work and apparently wasn't "the style of the show."

Elements of the episode were adopted over 10 years later in the show's 24th season instalment "The Day the Earth Stood Cool," wherein Homer befriends some hipsters who move in next door.
