At first glance, Edna seems like a pretty mundane part of the show. She's the typical teacher who has to put up with the antics of the troublesome student, and that seemed to be her lot for a long time. But, as the show progressed, you came to learn more about Edna, making her a far more rounded character.

As a teacher at Springfield Elementary, it's clear that she has seen her fair share of rainy days. It's very apparent from how she speaks to her students that she is beyond caring about her job, which gives Edna a relatable hue for many adult viewers.

But, you also get to see what she's like in her personal life through her relationship with Seymour Skinner and even her marriage to Ned Flanders. Of course, the whole thing is bittersweet as the unfortunate death of her voice actor Marcia Wallace meant the character had to be retired. But, Wallace left behind a beloved legacy.
