The Umbrella Academy Season 2: Every Academy Member Ranked From Worst To Best

The team is back together, but who is the Academy's greatest asset?

In 2019, The Umbrella Academy came to Netflix and instantly solidified itself as one of the best new shows TV had to offer. Coming to life from Dark Horse comics and the mind of Gerard Way, season one was something special.

After the tenth episode of the series left the titular team in a tough situation, heading through time to try and prevent the apocalypse, they were met with even more challenges in season two. More time travel, protecting new characters from both themselves and others, and even more running from The Commission.

With these obstacles came the opportunity for the seven members of the Academy to grow, and prove themselves worthy of the powers they had been gifted at birth, even though one of them was technically dead. Finding themselves scattered across time at the beginning of the new season, having to come back together as a team was inevitable, but some played much bigger parts in their fight through the past than others.

From the influential leaders of the team, to the passengers who skate by adding relatively little to the team itself, every member brings something different to the table, but some are far more important than others.

7. Luther

When the Umbrella Academy was in full swing, saving the world as children under the watchful eyes of Sir Reginald Hargreeves and Pogo, Luther was always the most loyal of his siblings. He was Number One, he was the muscle of the group, and he always thought of himself as the leader of sorts.

However, his problem in season one, something he freely admitted in season two, was that he greatly overestimated his own self-importance. He thought he was doing great work by being sent to the moon, and he believed his father was a great man.

Season two saw the monkey man move right to the other end of the spectrum, acting almost exclusively as comic relief. He had given up entirely on the team, he genuinely believed that Öga For Öga was an old woman who had threatened them, and his attempt at a heartfelt connection with Lila fell completely flat.

He was a lot dumber in the second set of episodes, and is almost simply led by Five without really contributing much himself. He even considered killing the Five of his timeline for a short time, so the final spot on this list is well deserved by Luther.
